Alexa Fredston is an Assistant Professor of Ocean Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University. Her postdoctoral research was at Rutgers University and she also previously worked for the Environmental Defense Fund. A quantitative ecologist, Dr. Fredston aims to understand and predict the dynamics of species over space and time, and to translate these insights into ocean management and conservation.
